What to do this summer?

How to prepare for AP, Olympiad, and Research all at once.

Today, we have prepared some ideas for those who are wondering what to do this summer.

we will tell you the most efficient way to prepare for AP, Olympiad, and Research for students who want to major in STEM fields. The content we are sharing today is very useful as it is used as a guide for students who are consulting at our academy. Students preparing for STEM fields often have to prepare for AP subjects and Olympiad research, so it would be good to refer to it.

The table above shows what and when students should prepare, and the dotted lines between grades are used to distinguish when the grade changes. If you think about the range of Olympiad and AP as a circle, as you can see in the lower part of the table above, the range of Olympiad includes AP, so it would be good to compare it with the May exam and AP class. We guide students to advance AP in the summer, and the purpose is to get a good GPA and do well in the AP exam next May. On the other hand, the purpose of advancing Olympiad is to pass the preliminaries. It’s like aiming to qualify for AIME by watching AMC (not going up to the national representative).

The goal of Research is to participate in the local Science Fair and move on to a higher level. Rather than aiming for a very high level, such as the difficult ISEF or becoming a national representative, we explain the roadmap by setting a goal that can be a challenge for you, so it would be great if you refer to it.

First of all, the summer vacation that ends the 9th grade is the starting point of the table above. When you greet the summer vacation, for example, if AP Chemistry is scheduled for the next semester, we advise you to start studying AP Chem from Summer. Think of it as starting AP during the summer vacation and studying all the way to the start of the semester, + Alpha also studies Olympiad. After finishing the first semester and crossing the year, you finish studying Olympiad and take the exam. The subject we are referring to is AP Chem and Chem Olympiad.

After taking the Chem Olympiad Olympiad exam in the spring, it’s not that you don’t have to study Chem anymore, but now you start Research. Since you studied AP Chem, it is an efficient method to choose a topic in that area and study for Olympiad and Research.

And we recommend that you take the Olympiad exam one more time until the next year. If you prepare like this, there will be many deadlines for Science Fair applications and Summer Camp in February of the 11th grade, and it would be very good to write the application content based on the research you have prepared so far. In other words, if you assume that you have been preparing Chemistry from the summer of the 9th grade, if you follow the roadmap until May of the 11th grade, you will become a very competitive student in the academic part if you get good results in the local Science Fair and get accepted to a competitive Summer Camp.

And if you get good grades in the second Olympiad, you will start with a more advantageous position than other competitive students.

We know that there are many people who find it difficult to prepare for Olympiad and Research, so we explained how to prepare in a complete way using AP Chemistry as an example for easy understanding. If you prepare in the way we mentioned above, you will grow into a very competitive student and you will be at a level where you can apply to a good university.
